The Differences Between Baby’s Skin and Adult Skin

A baby’s skin is a lot different than adult skin and to the extreme that it needs some different care. Infant skin is formed before they are born so it is in the dark and it is in liquid until the baby is born. The baby’s skin needs to adjust to the world. When people age the skin thickens, so baby’s skin is very thin and has a fine texture. So a baby’s skin has a lot of challenges to keep its moisture and to protect itself from the harsh environment.

You must try to keep your baby’s skin pH between 4 to 6, this will ensure that the acid mantel is surly supported. It is best to never use products that have animal products or any that have by-products. It is also a good idea to not use any fragrance because this can irritate the baby’s skin.

Vitamins A and E are useful additions to baby care products. Oat extract is soothing, and Shear butter is a mild substance that can be great for your baby’s skin. When you clean your baby make sure that you use a very mild soap. Avoid at all costs Sodium Laurel Sulfate this can clog the baby’s pores. Be sure to enjoy bath time and make skin care a happy ritual

Baby May Develop Skin Rashes for Various Reasons.

One main reason can be allergies. Allergy can be developed due to the formula food being fed to the child, or the cloth that is worn by the baby.

To rule out that the allergy is caused by the clothing. Make sure you use a mild detergent and not the strong ones used for the adults. Also soak the clothes after washing, in water that has been added with some anti septic solution or lotion, to rule out bacteria causing allergy.

The other common rash that occurs is the nappy rash. As the baby has to wear the diaper all day long. The skin cannot breathe and hence sweat and excrete cause the rashes. So whenever possible, do leave the area free of diaper.

When changing the diaper, do clean out the area with soft wipe. Make sure the area is cleaned properly, as any residue might be a cause of concern later on. Wiping hard also causes irritation to the skin. One can use plain warm water to clean out instead of soap water or detergent.

Applying olive before bathing also helps relieve the dryness of the skin. There are many baby oils that contain olive oil. Choose a good one. Because baby’s skin loses moisture faster than the adults. Do massage with good baby oil before the bath.
